While most tales assume that mylings arise specifically from instances where infants or small children are left in the woods to die of exposure, other interpretations state that a myling can be created in any situation where a child is killed by their parents. They’re also known as mylingar (Swedish), utburd (Norwegian), or ihtiriekko/liekkö/sikiӧ (Finnish) – most of these names translate roughly to “ outside” or “ outsider.” Mylings are the restless spirits of children that were abandoned by their parents to die. To the weak or unwary, an encounter with these vengeful spirits could spell their doom. These terrifying creatures are said to haunt woods and rural areas, accosting lone travelers and attempting to force them to take the ghost to a graveyard. In Scandinavia, there’s a special category for the ghosts of murdered children – mylings. I think fairies are actually very unsettling, because they are not so cute and kind in traditional folklore, they really don't care about morality, and could help you or ruin your life because they find it fun. There are no places in this world that lack ghost stories – whether it’s a malevolent poltergeist, a shrieking banshee, or simply a dark figure that you can only see out of the corner of your eye, we all live alongside our local ghosts. I think it is very unsettling to think of beings that just don't care about how they could harm you, and you quite never knew if they will or will just having fun in an harmless way. Year Walk is an adventure game developed and published by Swedish mobile game developer Simogo for iOS devices in 2013. More so it is something that is very common to fairies, but some are worst than others. The game is loosely based on an ancient Swedish tradition called 'rsgng'. The game was ported to Windows and OS X PC platforms via Steam in 2014, and on the Wii U via eShop on September 17, 2015. It was succeeded by the free, e-picturebook Year Walk: Bedtime Stories for Awful Children. Perchta is similar to krampus, as a being that punish Children around Christmas, but she was known to look like a hag, masks that represent her show how awful she was supposed to look, she was punishing children who misbehave but also those who did taboo things, such as spinning yarn or eating something not traditional during Christmas, if you did behave and she enters, she could gift a silver coin, if not, she would slit their belly open remove their guts and filled it with straw and pebbles. It is important to note that she also came with a wild hunt, a group of mythical beings that was with her and were also evil beings. Pesta was the incarnation of the plague, she was holding a rack and a broom, you couldn't do anything if she came, you only had three days before everyone was dead, the only chance you had was if you find her with a rack, that would mean some will survive, otherwise it was known it was not even worth fleeing as the broom would mean everyone would be dead once she would finish sweeping it. I could tell many others if you want, just a few from the top of my head. Whether or not players see into the future and what they see is for your discover, along with an alternative ending.Pairing perfectly with the above setting is a dark atmosphere that pulls together the supernatural, Swedish country side (snow included) into a gripping experience that grabs hold early and seldom lets go. Outside of this atmosphere Year Walk functions just like any other adventure game with players moving between a 2D and 3D blend of environmental elements. Split into separate game maps each of these is layered like a story book which does take some getting used to although once mastered feels perfectly designed for your adventure. Within these locations and between advancing the story you’ll have to overcome puzzles that generally revolve around finding certain things or completing a series of events to trigger something. For fans of the sub genre of atmosperhic puzzle adventures Year Walk’s atmosphere puts it undoubtedly in the top percentile.Summary.
